how to sum up all of us that ever were

How do you sum up all of humanity?
Our sciences, cultures, music, dance, art, beauty, our creations and our destructions – our past and perhaps our future?

Carl Sagan made this astounding attempt in 1977 with the Voyager. Embedded in its golden disc is imagery and audio that makes an attempt to humbly introduce the sum of all we’ve known to some distant civilization. I came across a pretty cool article detailing it HERE. (via Gizmodo)

But what I found particularly moving was this compilation of images that actually went on this voyage accompanied by music:

What would you put in your version of the voyager? What messages would you cry out and send sailing into the cosmic ocean?

It doesn’t need to be grand, just your little message in a bottle.

I don’t even know where to start…

  1. Maybe an easier question to ask is “What album of 20th or 21st century music would you send into space to accurately explain humanity to an alien race?”
